"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5
Whether they came from your own
head, or from the lies of an invisible enemy, God gave us a way out.
Take Every Thought Captive
Got gave us charge of our domains.
Our minds are a huge part of that. We should be policing our minds keeping out
threats to our hearts to keep darkness far away.
1. Just as a policeman would arrest
someone, in the same way we should arrest that thought. Arrest = stop. Stop the
thought. Don't let it continue to whirl through your mind and hurt you.
2. Take it captive. Slap on the
mental handcuffs and haul it off to the one in charge. Jesus. Make it obedient
to Him and command it to never return. He is the keeper of our hearts and
minds. He will take that thought away.
All of that explaining just
recommend saying this out loud:
“I take that thought into captivity
and make it obedient to Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Son of the Living God.”
Say it out loud; what we say with
our mouths breaks stuff in the supernatural realm.
And what if the thought comes back?
Do it again.
And again.
Monitoring our thoughts is a continual
process. When we get lazy about our thoughts, little things will sneak in and
try to stack up again: a stronghold of lies. After all, we were warned in the Bible to be alert:
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your
enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to
devour.” I Peter 5:8
The enemy’s agenda is to steal, kill
and destroy. This is not a far off "idea" of an enemy. This enemy is
right here under our noses, hiding out, making their moves daily without our
permission or consent.
But Jesus said, “I have come that
you might have life, and life to the full.” John 10:10.
Sweet!
