There are many things deliverance will affect, but it's time to be realistic about what it is and what it is not. (See previous post about what Deliverance Is.)
1. Deliverance is not a magical fix.
2. Deliverance is not behavior modification of attitudes, habits, or addictions.
3. Deliverance is not an exorcism.
4. Deliverance is not about you. It is not about demons. (hint: It's about God.)
1.
Deliverance is not magical duct tape that can fix everything. Deliverance will not automatically fix your problems, it will not fix your personality flaws or give you a face lift. It will not make everything thing magically perfect, as if there was no damage done by the enemy. The truth is, they make big ugly messes and take good things from us on a daily basis.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
(John 10:10)
It’s my belief that, generally speaking, people are demonized by the time the leave elementary school. After deliverance, Demons don’t take the years of messes they made when they are pitched to the curb. When we evict the mess makers, it may uncover a handful issues that you’ll then have to face. You’ll no longer have the liars in your ear. You’ll be free from that—the way it’s supposed to be in our relationship with God.
It takes time to work through the learned behavior. I was delivered from a Spirit of Fear when I was 17 years old. Fear’s lies were integrated into my every thought. I still find myself (decades later) defaulting to fear. Then I remember that He has not given me a Spirit of Fear but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. So I kick that fearful thought out and move on to reprogram my thought patterns.
2.
Deliverance is not about behavior modification, attitudes, habits or addictions in the deliverance session. Deliverance is about getting rid of demonic influences super-charging the dark places in your life. You are the one that has to change your behavior, habits and remove addictions. After deliverance you’ll find yourself face to face with none other than YOU and your own dysfunctional self.
Deliverance doesn't need "earnest urging." The casting of spells is false spiritual authority (or witchcraft.) We use the power of the name of Jesus without rituals or spells. Exorcism is a word from the Dark Ages... we she leave it there. Exorcisms have a bad name, they are scary, unruly, traumatic and above all: abusive. Jesus came to free the captives, not hurt them or make their heads spin around. Demons never hurt people when Jesus commanded them to leave. (They killed some pigs, but Jesus kept the person safe.)

Deliverance is well known as an exorcism through the Catholic church. But to explain the difference Webster's leads us on a bunny trail of meanings:
Exorcism: "A spell or formula used in exorcising."
Exorcising: "to expel (an evil spirit) by adjuration"
Adjuration: "an earnest urging or advising"

Lastly, Deliverance is not about you, and it is not about demons. It’s about Jesus our superstar! We on a mission to grow and change to become more like Him—a whole human being. We don’t have to work hard for His love, because His love is on autopilot. It’s automatic, we exist and we are loved. As we learn to live like Jesus, it doesn’t have to be hard. We don’t have to get stuck in our spiritual walks and stopped by unseen demonic forces.
It is the privilege of every believer to receive deliverance. It is one of the perks of living in the Kingdom with King God. There are many fringe benefits of being a king alongside the King of kings and freedom from demonization is one of them.
WARNING:
I’ll
soon be sharing a few inside secrets about how we do Prophetic
Deliverance at Bear Creek Ranch. But as a disclaimer, I’m not sharing about deliverance people can go throwing demons off each other. This is for informational purposes only. God's people
should be properly educated. It’s best to seek deliverance from someone who knows ALL the rules so something traumatic doesn’t happen. (I work with Bear Creek Ranch . If you are interested in getting deliverance, go to their site and don’t go it alone. It should always be a group effort.)
